Student Enrollment During COVID
In the UNESCO article, COVID-19: reopening and reimagining universities, survey on higher education through the UNESCO National Commissions, data about the impact of the pandemic on higher education systems in terms of access to education, equity and quality of teaching and learning, university operations, national challenges, emerging issues and strategic responses was gathered from 57 countries. Although there were many findings, we will focus on the impact of COVID-19 on student enrollment. Twenty-eight countries experienced no decrease, while 14 saw an increase in their enrollment. Some of the reasons for an increase included increased government funding, distance learning, and the expansion of enrollment into public universities. Did your institution experience an increase in student enrollment? If so, what institutional initiatives contributed to your increase? If your institution experienced a decrease in enrollment, what initiatives could have been put in place to support student enrollment?
